The hypothetical advantage of digital rooms is, unlike real ones, you can make a mess of the room if you wish. You move with the arrow keys on a keyboard, then grab and examine things with a mouse. So, let’s get to the meat of the review: the interface. There’s a few different themes, including the Egyptian theme that all real escape rooms seem to be required by law to have at least one of. If that’s not the case, what the fuck are you reading this review for? Fucking weirdo. If you’re the type of person who doesn’t get bored with this formula, this is the game for you. Search around, find the first clue that lets you solve one puzzle, which provides you with the information you need to solve the other, and the process repeats until you open the ultimate door. It works the way it should work: enter a room and immediately be overwhelmed by puzzles that make no sense. Escape Simulator contains a collection of small, self-contained escape rooms with real-life type of puzzles, along with the occasional brain bender that can only be done digitally (especially the space station-themed rooms). On PC, the one that everyone has been asking about since I went on this escape room kick is Escape Simulator, claiming that it was the closest to the real thing. In our first ten minutes, we saw items clip into each other, inspected items knock other items over, etc. This is unstable and completely unoptimized for #NintendoSwitch.

In addition, the title includes an extensive editor that allows you to create your own escape rooms filled with original puzzles. Despite the fact that authors recommend playing in a team of three, there's nothing against inviting more players to the game. Game modesĪlthough Escape Simulator allows to play solo, the game shows its strengths in cooperative mode. The game also allows us to pick up every smaller object and take a closer look at it. The puzzles solving is connected with the necessity of moving furniture and looking into every corner, studying notes found in the rooms (where valuable clues can be hidden) and even destroying some elements of the environment (like clay pots). In each of these rooms we can find different puzzles, solving of which is necessary to find the way out. In Escape Simulator we observe the action from first person perspective (FPP). While in Labyrinth of Egypt we find ourselves in an ancient Egyptian labyrinth, Adrift in Space takes us on board of a damaged spaceship, which has taken a collision course with the Sun, and in Edgewood Mansion a Victorian mystery awaits to be solved. Particular locations are divided into three parts, and each of them tells a different simple story. In Escape Simulator our task is to escape from many different rooms. Moreover, the designers of the real escape rooms supervised it. It was developed by an independent team Pine Studio - authors of such productions as SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell or The Academy: The First Riddle. Escape Simulator is a puzzle game in the style of escape rooms.
